Need of Automation
Due to variations in vapour load during a batch pan operation, the requirement of water for the condenser vapour also varies. When the massecuite starts boiling in the batch pan, due to low brix, the vapour condenser increases to the higher side and therefore the requirement of injection water for the condenser ascends on the higher side.
As the pan starts to tighten, the vapour load on the condenser reduces which in turn also reduces the requirement of injection water for the condenser. Normally the condenser is designed for maximum load. Thus under manual operation, when the vapour load reduces because of the tightening, the requirement of injection water for the condenser must be controlled. If the injection water is not governed at the requirement vapour load, substantial injection water and power get wasted.
Under automation, the requirement of injection water is constantly controlled proportionately to the vapour on the condenser. The exact vapour load is determined automatically by the system by in temperature sensors. These sensors are located in the tail pipe and the vapour pipe.
 
Basic equipments in automation ( Field Instruments):
  1. Vacuum transmitter
  2. Temperature Sensor with thermowell
  3. Solonide valve required for Jet operation
  4. Cabling from condenser to PLC.
  5. Power supply unit.
  6. PLC station consists of : PLC with SCADA
  7. Operating station consists of : CPU, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse
  8. Junction box to house PLC
 
  • Each condenser consist of latest Jet Box.
  • In each Jet Box we shall provide Jet/ Spray Nozzles of latest design which will run in both automatic & manually system.
  • Water supply can be controlled by an electrical switch provided at control panel.
  • Condenser's automation shall be designed to work on both automation mode or manual mode. In case of failure of any system in system or valve. In automation system we can set vacuum in each condensers separately.
  • In automation vacuum generation time will be less & maintained at constant level.
  • Condenser will adjust quantity of water automatically so as to maintain vacuum level with variable inlet water temperature.
  • Automation system will give clear indication in case of vacuum failure i.e. high air leakage or higher rate of evaporation or high rate of inlet water temperature.
